Bidwell Breaks Another School Record
While the rest of the boys track team were winning the Stockbridge invitational, three of Marshall's boys traveled to run in the prestigious Bluejay Elite Challenge in Shepherd, Michigan. Once again the boys proudly represented the Redhawks.
Reece Davis started things off by taking second in the 800 Meter Run. Over 75 boys were entered and Reece's 1:59.68 was good for a runner up medal. With over 100 boys entered in the 3200, Jack Bidwell and Abe McHugh didn't get to run till 10:40 when the "Elite" division toed the starting line.
Most of the top 3200 meter runners in the state were entered, with Jack being the top seed. Jack ran with the leaders for seven laps before unleashing a blistering kick for the final lap (60.3) to break his own school record with an amazing time of 8:57.90. Jack's time was only two seconds shy of the all time DII State record.
Not to be outdone by his older teammate, sophomore Abe McHugh ran the race of his short track career by dropping 24 seconds off his personal record. Abe's time of 9:23.67 placed him13th overall, and moved him into 8th place in the DII state rankings (1st 10th grader). Great job guys!
